Rambling notes

Stidolph family in America
In my research so far I have found four separate families that have immigrated to the united states
The first known family to arrive ( Group One ) was that of William Stidolph and his wife. William, a paper maker settled in New Castle, Delaware sometime in the late 1700's. He does not appear in the 1800 census, but correspondence between his son William Hamlin and daughter Sophia mention his time in America . A record exists of his wife's burial in 1803. William subsequently returned home to England .
His aforementioned daughter Sophia traveled to the states in 1800. She married, a ship captain William Ladd. They settled in new Hampshire. They had no issue.
William Hamlin, son of William, married Caroline Eliza Thomas. They had nine children, six of which are known to have moved to the States.
1. Sophia Stidolph married George Moore. Settled in New York City
2. Caroline Stidolph married .........., settled in Westchester, NY.
3. William Hamlin Stidolph,. It is unknown if William ever married. The first record of his time in the U.S. is an arrival record in 1839. He sows up in Hawaii in the mid 1840's and in California in 1849.
4.David W. Stidolph, married ......., settled in Brooklyn NY. David had..... children.
5 Robert Stidolph, ..., settled in Brooklyn, NY. He died, without issue, in 1853. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery.
6. Henry Stidolph, married Jane Mason, settled in Brooklyn , NY Henry and Jane had .... Children
1. Charles Stidolph who married Isabella Gourlay had four issue

2. Henry Stidolph who married ........., had ......... issue.
A) Jane Stidolph , born in Hartford Connecticut, died at age 21 in Brooklyn NY

The second group to arrive in America were the children of William and Sarah Stidolph. I have been able find records for four of their children.
1. Frederick Stidolph. He appears in the 1850 census in California . Later moves to Missouri where he dies without issue
2. Godfrey Stidolph he settles in Missouri, dies without issue
3. Hiram Stidolph, he settles in Missouri, dies without issue
4. Thomasin Stidolph, married ............, settles in Missouri
The Third group to arrive, came to the united states, via Canada in the early 1900's. They settled in Montana .
Reginald and Mary Stidolph and their daughter Anna. Their son John was in new York in 1910.
There were a total of .....8....... Stidolphs in the 1860 census

Based on my research, the majority of stidolphs presently residing in the United States are descended from group one or three.
The following persons at one time resided in the United States. However there is no record of their leaving issue surviving.
Civil War
The only known Stidolph to serve in the Civil War was, .."..... He served in the Confederate Army and was from Georgia. I have been unable to find any record of his life before or after his service.
Jack Stidolph Public records have Jack living in Florida in his later years
